7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God. 8 Formerly, when you did not know God, you were enslaved to those that by nature are not gods. 9 But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles of the world, whose slaves you want to be once more?—Galatians 4:7-9, ESVWhen we repent and believe in Jesus for salvation, we’re no longer slaves to sin. We are sons and daughters of God. We’re finally free to live by the undeserved favor and love of God who supplies us with all that we need to live a life that pleases pleases Him, accomplishes the work that He gave us to do, and gives us satisfaction on the deepest level. Yet so many are deceived into putting the shackles back on. How does this happen? I think the number one reason is that people don’t renew their minds by reading and studying the Bible. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”—Romans 12:2, ESV.
