John and I had company today from Orlando. The wife is one of John and my old friends from dorm life in college and Gator Christian Life. She and her husband are sure to be lifetime friends. I am thankful for the smile they bring to our faces whenever we are with them. We have common interests so it is easy to have good conversation or to just enjoy doing things together, like baking, eating, and for John computer things I don’t understand.
Just last night our home group had a Thanksgiving dinner. The student hosting did such a good job making sure his house was comfortable for everyone. He cleaned, moved sofas, picked up and returned tables and chairs to various houses around town. It was great to work with him and be on the same page as far as preparation for this dinner for 40 went. It is easy to be afraid we are inconveniencing people but like a real family should be our church family went the extra mile to serve each other and outsiders last night.
